Marinella is originally from Auckland, New Zealand. She completed her Bachelor's degree in Political Science at the University of Notre Dame in South Bend, Indiana. Marinella gained a Fulbright English Teaching Assistantship grant to Mexico, through which she taught English at a university in the sierra of Oaxaca. After completing her grant she taught English at a school in Queretaro, Mexico.
