Mykah Stanwood (she/her) grew up between San Diego, Houston/Dallas, and New Orleans. She earned her Bachelor’s in International Studies from the University of North Texas. Her diverse upbringing sparked an interest in language, culture, and religion that she will continue to foster at UCSB. Mykah’s research interests lie in studying Black and indigenouspopulations around the world as well as related topics including race, migration, nationalism, ethnic cleansing, and human rights. After her time at UCSB she hopes to channel her learning into a career of civil service.
