Social Impact Investment
Bio:
Dinah’s interest in MAGIS was piqued by a long held interest in the work of international NGOs. She has been involved in the non-profit sector in Santa Barbara for over twenty years. Dinah has served on the board of three local foundations and recently served on the board of a foundation exploring investment in market based solutions to solve social problems.
Her internship was with Eleos Foundation, a local foundation desiring to fund internationally, as the grant-making Strategy Officer responsible for overseeing the spend-down of the Eleos endowment. She helped identify programs for funding that will deliver health and education services to the world’s poor. For her MA project, Dinah proposed a program that would inform local investment in global philanthropy. This program—Partners in International Philanthropy (PIP)—was implemented by the Eleos Foundation.
Dinah completed her MA degree with a project, “"Global Philanthropy in a Local Context: Leveraging Resources for Maximum Impact: A proposal for the Eleos Foundation". She recently completed working for the Orfalea Center at UC Santa Barbara as the Coordinator of the Luce Project.
